Fatehgarh Sahib, situated in the northwestern state of Punjab, India, is not only a city but also a revered Sikh pilgrimage destination. Serving as the administrative center of the Fatehgarh Sahib district, it lies approximately 5 kilometers north of Sirhind. The city derives its name from Fateh Singh, the 7-year-old son of Guru Gobind Singh. Tragically, Fateh Singh, along with his 9-year-old brother Zoravar Singh, fell victim to Mughal oppression during the early 18th-century Mughal-Sikh conflicts, as they were seized and buried alive on the orders of Governor Wazir Khan.
History
Located 40 kilometers north of Patiala and 42 kilometers west of Chandigarh, this city holds immense historical significance. It serves as a prominent pilgrimage hub in Sikhism, with the Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib standing as its iconic landmark. This sacred site commemorates a tragic event where the youngest sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, 7-year-old Baba Fateh Singh Ji and 9-year-old Baba Zorawar Singh Ji, were betrayed, captured, and subsequently buried alive under the orders of Wazir Khan after refusing to convert to Islam, marking a somber chapter in Sikh history.

Its coordinates fall between 30 degrees 38 minutes North and 76 degrees 27 minutes East, with a distance of 50 kilometers to the west of Chandigarh, the capital of Punjab.
