Tonk, nestled in Rajasthan, lies 95 km south of Jaipur along the Banas River. As the district’s heart, it hosts the administrative center. History

In the 12th century, a Brahmin named Tunkau laid the foundation of a settlement, eventually dubbed Tunk, later evolving into Tonk. Alternatively, historical narratives suggest another account attributing the town’s creation to a Brahman named Bhola in 1643. These diverse narratives intertwine to shape the town’s origin, depicting the convergence of cultural histories. Whether founded by Tunkau or Bhola, Tonk’s inception bears testament to the amalgamation of stories, encapsulating the town’s rich past.
