Located in the Bilaspur District in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, Bilaspur, popularly referred to as “The City of Festivals,” is a city. History

Formerly a part of Dakshina Kosala, Bilaspur was close to the capitals of Malhar, Ratanpur (ancient Ratnapura), Sirpur (ancient Shripura), Tuman (ancient Tummana), and Chhattisgarh (ancient Mallar). The Kalachuri dynasty of Ratanpur ruled it starting in the fifth century. Ratanpur served as the capital of the state of Chhattisgarh for numerous dynasties in the past. On the other hand, Bilaspur became well-known in 1741, the year the Maratha Empire was ruled, when a Maratha official settled there to oversee the Ratanpur dynasty.
