Hisar, also called Hissar in the local dialect, serves as the administrative center of Hisar district in Haryana, northwestern India. In the 12th century, Hansi became capital under Chauhan king Prithviraj Chauhan, fortifying its importance until his defeat by Muhammad Ghori at the Second Battle of Tarain.
