History
Baran, formerly known as Varah Nagari and Annapurna Nagari, boasts a rich historical tapestry. By the 17th century, the Mughal Empire established control over the city, overseeing the construction of the impressive Shahabad Fort, which even drew the visit of Emperor Aurangzeb. Nestled in southeastern Rajasthan, Baran continues to be a significant city in the culturally diverse landscape of northern India.
