Deoghar, also known as Baidyanath Dham, is a holy city located in the state of Jharkhand, India. With a history dating back to ancient times, Deoghar has been a prominent pilgrimage site for Hindus. The city derives its name from the ancient Baba Baidyanath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Historically, Deoghar has been mentioned in various scriptures, including the Skanda Purana. It is believed that Lord Rama, during his exile, visited this place and worshipped Lord Shiva. The temple complex itself has undergone renovations and expansions over the centuries. In the colonial era, Deoghar saw development with the establishment of educational institutions and healthcare facilities.
