According to the 2011 provisional census, Hoshiarpur City housed 168,843 people, with 88,290 males and 80,153 females, boasting an 89.11% literacy rate. The broader Hoshiarpur area, as of the 2011 India census, tallied 189,371 residents, with males comprising 50.9% and females 49.1%. The city showcased an 85.40% literacy rate, a notable surge from the 2001 figure of 81.00%. Male literacy stood at 89.90%, while female literacy was 80.80%.
