Jharsuguda Pincodes

The district headquarters and city of Jharsuguda are located in Odisha, India. It is a center of industry, primarily with metallurgical sectors. It has excellent rail connections to India’s largest cities, and Jharsuguda Airport now known as Veer Surendra Sai Airport was just opened. It is referred to as the “Powerhouse of Odisha” because of the abundance of industry there, much of it is concentrated on thermal power plants. Jharsuguda’s diversified population, language, and culture have earned it the moniker “Little India” as well. Kalinga Bar & Hotel King Palace is among the oldest bars and hotels in the area.

Tribes

The main tribal communities in this district include the Sabara, Kisan, Kurukh, Bhuiyan, Munda, and Santal tribes. The tribal culture, language, and other main cultures in this district are particularly diverse. Kurukh language is the mother tongue of Kurukh people, who also speak Sadri language. People from Munda speak Ho, people from Kisan speak their dialect, and people from Kharia speak Kharia. Tribal communities also speak a lot of Sadri and the regional Odia dialect.

Geography

The coordinates of Jharsuguda are 21.85°N 84.03°E. The average elevation is 218 meters, or 715 feet. It’s in the western region of Odisha. This location is traversed by State Highway 10 and National Highway 69 (NH-69). Jharsuguda town is bordered to the west by the Ib River and to the south by the Bheden River. The town has 579,499 residents and a land area of 70.47 square kilometer.

Climate

Situated 700–750 feet above mean sea level, the settlement is located at longitude 21.82° north and latitude 84.1°. In the summer, 48.0 °C is the highest temperature ever recorded. Rainfall totals there are 1,527 mm on average.

Transport

The city has had a reasonably well-developed transportation system since the Colonial era. The main forms of transportation include buses run by the state and commercial companies, taxis, and auto rickshaws. At Durlaga, the Jharsuguda Airport has been in operation since 2019. Since the British era, it has had an airstrip, which has been expanded to a full-fledged airport. After Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, officially opened VSS Airport (Veer Surendra Sai Airport) on September 22, 2018, the first aircraft from Jharsuguda took off in September 2018.

Education

The pre-collegiate languages taught in schools are primarily Hindi, English, Sambalpuri, and Odia. English is the language of instruction in educational institutions following college matriculation. There are further educational media available in Jharsuguda. In Jharsuguda, government-run schools and colleges predominate, while there are also private trust- and individual-run institutions.

The schools are associated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (BSE), the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education, or the Odisha State Board under the BSE, Central Board of Secondary Education. Students who have completed ten years of secondary education can choose to specialize in one of three streams when they enroll in higher secondary school: science, business, or the arts.
