Originally part of Delhi’s Sambhal sarkar under the Mughals, this area later fell under Awadh’s jurisdiction. In 1801, the Nawab of Awadh relinquished control to the British East India Company. Fast forward to April 24, 1997, when the district was formed by separating Amroha, Dhanora, and Hasanpur from the Moradabad district. Then, in 2012, it was renamed from Jyotiba Phule Nagar to Amroha district, marking its historical evolution and changes in governance over time.
