Kota, formerly Kotah, lies in southeastern Rajasthan, India, along the Chambal River, about 240 km from Jaipur. In the 2011 Census, Kota City housed 1,001,694 residents, with 528,601 males and 473,093 females. The provisional count slightly differed at 1,001,365. The urban agglomeration solely comprises the city, boasting a sex ratio of 895 and 12.14% under six years old. The literacy rate stood at 82.80%, split with male literacy at 89.49% and female at 75.33%. Harauti, a Rajasthani dialect, prevails alongside Hindi, Marwari, and English. Hindus constitute around 80.5% of the populace, with Muslims (15.9%), Jains (2.2%), Sikhs (0.9%), and Christians (0.4%) forming significant religious minorities according to the 2011 census.
