Korba Pincodes

As of May 25, 1998, Korba district has been granted full revenue district status. Located on the banks of the Hasdeo and Ahiran river confluence, Korba city serves as the district headquarters. In Chhattisgarh, Korba is the centre of power. Division of Bilaspur oversees the district. About 200 km from Raipur, the capital, is the Korba district headquarters.

The capital of the recently created state of Chhattisgarh is Korba. The district is under the division of Bilaspur and is primarily populated by tribal people, notably the Korwas, a tribe that is protected (Pahadi Korwa). Blessed with a thick layer of verdant forest, Korba is home to a substantial community of indigenous people. The Adivasis in the forested areas have managed to coexist peacefully with the nature while preserving their own cultural traits and customs.

History

The Korwa tribe, who live in the northern region of Chhattisgarh, is the source of the district’s name. Gourigarh was the previous name of Korba. The Haihaiyas were the district’s initial rulers until the Marathas invaded it during their conquest of Chhattisgarh. A range of communities, including Gond and Kanwar, had petty zamindars ruling over different areas of the district.

Geography

22.35°N 82.68°E is the location of Korba. At 252 metres (827 feet), on average, it is elevated. 365,253 people called Korba city home as per the 2011 India census. The Korba District, which was established on May 25, 1998, includes Korba City. Korba has a forest cover of 4,187.375 km (1,616.755 sq mi). Korba consists of five blocks and 17 police stations.

Economy

The NTPC Korba Super Thermal Power Plant is situated in the Jamanipali region. The Hasdeo River provides water for the power station, and also obtains coal from the Gevra and Kusmunda mines. National Thermal Power Corporation is the owner and operator of Korba Thermal Power Station. Other nearby small power plants include the Lanco Amarkantak Power Plant, the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukharjee Thermal Power Station, and the Hasdeo Thermal Power Station.

Demography

1,206,640 people live in the Korba district as of the 2011 census, which is about equal to the population of Bahrain or the US state of New Hampshire, with 612,915 men and 593,725 women. As a result, it is ranked 395th in India. There are 183 people living in the district per square km. From 2001 to 2011, the population grew at a pace of 19.25%. Korba has a 73.22% literacy rate and a sex ratio of 971 females for every 1000 males. 36.99% of the populace resides in cities.
