About Madhubani
Madhubani district, one of Bihar’s thirty-eight districts, falls under the Darbhanga division. Its main office is in Madhubani town. Spanning an area of 3,501 square kilometers, the district had a population of 4,487,379 as per the 2011 census.
History:
In 1972, Madhubani was established as a separate district, having been divided from Darbhanga district. It’s thought that Baliraajgadh, an archaeological site in present-day Madhubani, was once the capital of the ancient Mithila Kingdom.
Geography:
The total area of Madhubani district is 3,501 square kilometers. This area is part of the Terai region.
Demographics:
Based on the 2011 Indian census, Madhubani district’s population is 4,487,379, ranking it 37th among India’s 640 districts. The district’s population consists of 1,282 people per square kilometer. In Madhubani, there are 926 females for every 1,000 males, and 58.62% of its population is literate. Additionally, 3.60% of the population resides in urban areas. During the 2011 Census, 84.07% of the district’s population spoke Maithili, 12.86% spoke Urdu, and 2.92% spoke Hindi as their first language.
