About Morigaon

The Apex council will be made up of 144 villages from Nagaon, Morigaon, and Kamrup with 28 blocks. Morigaon is a town of town area committee and the district headquarters of Morigaon district in the Indian state of Assam. Morigaon’s history is unclear. Arimatta was a well-known traditional leader of the area whose background is unknown. Following Arimattas’s demise, his son Jongal Balahu (A Great Tiwa King) assumed leadership of the area. The Kacharis eventually used a bamboo spear to murder Jongal Balahu close to Kajalimukh. The tradition continues by saying that, in order to elude his assailants, Jongal Balahu dipped into the Kollong River, emerging at Raha to relieve his thirst before diving once more to emerge at Jagi. Today’s Raha and Jagi got their names from this incident.
