Nawada Pincodes

Nawada district is one of Bihar’s thirty-eight districts in India, with Nawada as its administrative center. It is the easternmost district in the Magadh division, which is one of Bihar’s nine administrative divisions. Historically, the area now forming Nawada district was part of the Magadha, Shunga, and Gupta empires. To its south, it borders Koderma and Giridih districts of Jharkhand state. Additionally, it shares boundaries with Bihar’s Gaya, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, and Jamui districts.

History:

In 1845, Nawada became a subdivision of Gaya district. However, on January 26, 1973, Nawada district was established as a separate entity from Gaya district. The Kakolat Falls are featured in Hindu Pauranik History, where they are described as the dwelling place of a king who was transformed into a python due to a curse by a Rishi.

Geography:

Nawada district covers a region of 2,494 square kilometres, which is roughly the size of Chile’s Navarino Island. While much of the district is flat, there are some hilly areas as well. The primary rivers in the region include the Sakri, Khuri, Panchane, Bhusri, Kakolat, and Tilaiya.

Demographics:

Based on the 2011 census, Nawada district’s population stands at 2,219,146, ranking it 205th among India’s 640 districts. The district has a population density of 889 people per square kilometre. In terms of gender, Nawada had 936 females for every 1000 males, and the literacy rate is 61.63%. Additionally, 9.71% of the population resides in urban areas. Scheduled Castes make up 25.47% of the population, while Scheduled Tribes account for 0.09%.

During the 2011 Census of India, 55.52% of people in the district reported Magahi as their first language, while 36.64% spoke Hindi and 7.57% used Urdu as their primary language.
