South West Delhi is a part of the National Capital Territory of Delhi in India, serving as one of its eleven administrative districts. Kapashera is where the administrative headquarters of South West Delhi is situated.

 This district shares its borders with West Delhi to the north, Central Delhi to the northeast, New Delhi and South Delhi to the east. To the south, it is adjacent to the Gurgaon District of Haryana state, and to the west, it shares a boundary with Jhajjar District of Haryana.

History: 

South West Delhi is among the original nine districts that were established in January 1997. At that time, the district consisted of three Sub-Divisions: Vasant Vihar, Janakpuri, Najafgarh, Kapashera, and Delhi Cantonment. Its main office was located in Palam.

Geography:

The South West District of N.C.T. of Delhi is located in the southwestern part of Delhi. It has different characteristics, with the Kapashera Sub Division being mainly rural, the Dwarka Sub Division mostly urban, and the Najafgarh Sub Division a blend of urban and rural populations.

Demographics:

As of the 2011 census, South West Delhi had a population of 2,292,958, placing it 198th among all districts in India. The district was moderately populated, with approximately 5,445 people residing in each square kilometer. In terms of gender, South West Delhi had 836 females for every 1000 males, and the literacy rate stood at 88.81%.

 Administration:

The SouthWest district is divided into three subdivisions: Dwarka, Najafgarh, and Kapashera. These subdivisions align with the Police Districts.

Heading this district is a Deputy Commissioner, who oversees an Additional District Magistrate, Sub Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars, and Sub-Registrars. The District Administration handles a wide range of functions, including magisterial matters, revenue courts, issuing statutory documents, property registration, conducting elections, managing relief and rehabilitation, land acquisition, and many other responsibilities.

The District Administration in Delhi is the primary enforcement agency for various Government Policies and exercises supervisory authority over numerous other government entities.
