Surguja Pincodes

The Indian state of Chhattisgarh includes the Surguja district. Among the oldest districts in Chhattisgarh is this one. Ambikapur serves as the district’s administrative centre. East of the Vindhyachal-Baghelkhand region of peninsular India, the district is located in its own dialectal area, the Surguja dialectal region, where Surgujia is spoken. Covering a large hilly territory, the district is home to numerous ethnic groups, including the Gond, Bhumij, Oraon, Panika, Korwa, Bhuiya, Kharwar, Munda, Chero, Rajwar, Nagesia, Kanwar, and Santal.

History

Legend has it that Lord Rama made a visit to Surguja during his 14-year banishment into the forests. Numerous locations related to the epic of Ramayana bear names derived from the names of Lord Rama, Laxmana, and the goddess Sita, including Ramgarh, Sita-Bhengra, and Laxmangarh.

The Nandas were the area’s ruling family before the Mauryas arrived. Small kingdoms were formed in the area during the third century BC. From Palamu in what is now Jharkhand, a Rajput monarch of the Rakshal clan launched an invasion in 1613 and seized power. Geography

It is located between 81°34’40” and 84°4’40” east longitude and 23°37’25” to 24°6’17” north latitude. This territory is roughly 5,732 square kilometres in extent, measuring 244.62 kilometres (152.00 mi) long from east to west and 67.37 kilometres (41.86 mi) wide from north to south (2,213 sq mi). The Surguja district’s mountains include unusual “pat formations,” or highlands with tiny tablelands in between. The district’s principal components include the Mainpat, the Jarang pat, the Jonka pat, the Jamira pat, and the Lahsunpat.

Demography

The Surguja district has 2,359,886 residents, approximately equivalent to the population of Latvia or the US state of New Mexico, according to the 2011 census. Based on this, it is ranked 192nd out of 640 in India. There are 150 people living in the district per square kilometre (390/sq mi). Between 2001 and 2011, the population growth rate was 19.74%. Surguja has a 61.16% literacy rate and a sex ratio of 976 females for every 1000 males.
