Vaishali Pincodes

Vaishali district is in Bihar, India, and is part of Tirhut division. It’s famous as the birthplace of Mahavira, a prominent figure in the Jain religion. The largest city and district headquarters, Hajipur, is renowned for its banana forest. The district is well-connected through NH-77 and NH-322 highways, linking it to the state capital Patna, division headquarters Muzaffarpur, and the eastern district Samastipur.

History:

 Vaishali got its name from King Vishala, the son of Ikshvaku, who founded the city. Vaishali was once the capital of the Licchavi republic and played a significant role in the early histories of Buddhism and Jainism. During that time, Vaishali was a bustling ancient city and the capital of the Vajji confederation of Mithila, which encompassed much of the Himalayan Gangetic region in present-day Bihar. The Magadha rulers of the Shishunaga dynasty relocated their capital from Pataliputra to Vaishali.
Vaishali became its own district in 1972 when it separated from Muzaffarpur.

The Vaishali district has an area of 2,036 square kilometres.

Demographics:

In the 2011 census, Vaishali district had a population of 3,495,021. It ranks 86th in India among 640 districts. The district is densely populated with 1,717 people per square kilometer. The sex ratio is 892 females per 1000 males, and the literacy rate is 66.60%. Only 6.67% of the population lives in urban areas.
During the 2011 Census, 95.09% of the population in the district spoke Hindi, while 4.80% spoke Urdu as their first language. The dialect spoken in the region is Bajjika, sometimes considered a dialect of the Maithili language.
