About Mancherial
In the Indian state of Telangana, Mancherial serves as both the district’s capital and seat of government. It serves as the Mancherial revenue division’s administrative center as well as the district headquarters. It is situated on the Godavari River’s northern banks. About 244 kilometers (152 miles) separate it from Hyderabad, the state capital; 84 kilometers (52 miles) separate it from Karimnagar; 138 kilometers (86 miles) separate it from Nirmal; and 155 kilometers (96 miles) separate it from Adilabad.
History
It is currently a distinct district in and of itself, having formerly been a part of Adilabad District. It was rich in forest resources and had both large and small industry until recently less than a century ago but it had little political or economic significance. The primary source of income for the Gonds was agriculture. The area became industrialized following the establishment of coal mines by the Singareni Collieries Company. There was established an Industrial Training Institute in the 1970s.
