Mandya district, located in Karnataka, India, shares its borders with Mysore, Chamarajangar, Hassan, Tumkur, and Ramanagara districts. It was formed in 1939 by carving it out from the larger Mysore district. The district’s primary town is Mandya, and as of 2011, it had a population of 1,808,680, with a small urban population of 16.03%.

It shares its borders with Mysore, Tumkur, Chamrajnagar, Hassan, and Ramanagara districts. Covering an area of 4,961 square kilometers, Mandya is home to the administrative center, Mandya City. This district is blessed with five rivers, including the Kaveri River and its four main tributaries: Hemavathi, Shimsha, Lokapavani, and Veeravaishnavi.

According to the 2011 census, Mandya district has a population of 1,805,769, ranking 263rd in India out of 640 districts. The population density is 365 people per square kilometer. The district has a sex ratio of 989 females for every 1,000 males and a literacy rate of 70.14%. About 17.08% of the population lives in urban areas. In terms of language, at the time of the 2011 census, 91.92% of the population spoke Kannada, 4.24% Urdu, 1.34% Tamil, and 1.30% Telugu as their first language.

Administration:

Mandya district is divided into two subdivisions, each consisting of several taluks. The Mandya subdivision includes Mandya, Maddur, and Malavalli taluks, while the Pandavapura subdivision comprises Pandavapura, Srirangapatna, Nagamangala, and Krishnarajpet Taluks.
