Nayagarh Pincodes

One of the thirty districts that make up the eastern Indian state of Odisha is Nayagarh. It was established on April 1, 1993, following the division of the former Puri District into the three separate districts of Khordha, Nayagarh, and Puri. The districts of Khordha to the south and east, Cuttack to the east and north, Angul to the north, Boudh to the northwest, Kandhamal to the west, and Ganjam to the southwest encircle the district.

Geography

Nayagarh has an average height of 178 meters (584 feet) and is situated at 20.13°N 85.1°E. The 1999 Odisha cyclone had less of an impact on Nayagarh because of the Rukhi and Balaram mountains, which are located in the city’s south and north, respectively. The New Jagannath Sadak road, also called Nua Jagannath Sadak, stretches 96 km and links the holy city in the Puri district with Nayagarh.

History

One significant period in the political history of Odisha is the history of the establishment of Nayagarh State in the thirteenth century. On a trip from “Rewa” in Madhya Pradesh, Suryamani of the Baghela dynasty founded his empire at Nayagarh and arrived in Puri. Suryamani and his brother Chandramani stopped for the night at Gunanati on their journey to Puri. There were many tigers in the neighborhood, and one of them attacked him at night. After a battle, the two brothers killed the tiger.

Demography

According to the 2011 Indian census, there were 17,030 people living in the town of Nayagarh, with 9,00 men and 8,030 women. When compared to the 2001 census statistics, this showed an increase in population of 11.30%. In Nayagarh District, the population grew by 10.46% between the 1991 and 2001 censuses, according to the former. With over 1700 villages spread across 3,890 square kilometer, the Nayagarh district is quite large.

Agriculture

The district of Nayagarh’s agricultural grounds are mostly suitable for the cultivation of sugarcane, pulses including black and mung beans, and seasonal paddy. The district of Nayagarh and its surrounding areas are covered in hills and woods that are home to a variety of forest and herbal products, including naturally occurring medicinal herbs. People grow very nutritious crops like groundnuts, sesame, and other related grains when the conditions are right. Saal and kendu leaves, which sustain the lives of the rural and tribal people, are additional forest products.

Culture

Nayagarh culture is a rural one, rooted in long-standing customs from antiquity. The aforementioned pertain mostly to the belief systems that are prevalent in the Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, Lord Jagannath, and other established Hindu deities. Mahavishuva Sankranti, also called Pana Sankranti or Hanuman Jayanti, is celebrated annually by people who have fulfilled the rites of Danda, a customary festival honoring Lord Shiv and Goddess Kali. On the final day of the festival, participants keep fasts and fervently walk on a fire made of wood charcoals.
