About North Sikkim
Of the four districts in Sikkim, this one is the biggest. Before thinning down to desert scrub in the direction of the Northern Tundra, the terrain is mountainous and covered with lush flora up to the alpine altitude. Traveling to this location is incredibly picturesque due to the numerous waterfalls lining the main route. The most notable consequence of the valleys’ steepness is the frequency of landslides, which can occasionally descend to elevations of 3000 to 5,000 feet (1,500 meters), wreaking havoc along their path.
Geography
Among the four districts in Sikkim, this one is the biggest. The highest peak, Kanchenjanga, rises to a height of nearly 8,000 meters and is clearly visible from Singhik town. Traveling to this location is incredibly picturesque due to the numerous waterfalls lining the main route. The most notable consequence of the valleys’ steepness is the frequency of landslides, which can occasionally descend to elevations of between 3,000 and 5,000 feet (1,500 meters), wreaking havoc along their path.
