History

This location gained prominence once more after the Satavahanas, during the Kakatiya dynasty, when the adjacent cities of Motupalli and Voda Revu functioned as important seaports. The Pallava kings of the third and fourth centuries A.D. also made reference to Ongole in their inscriptions. Krishna Deva Raya also held sway over the city.
