In the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, Tenkasi is the town and district headquarters. Tenkasi, South Tamil Nadu, is home to the Kutraleeshwarar temple (Chitra Sabha), one of the five sabhas of Lord Nataraja, a manifestation of Lord Shiva, and one of the most important spiritual and cultural centers in the region. Thirikooda Rasappa Kavirayar, a poet from Tamil, refers to this temple as “Kutrala Kuravanji,” which translates to “beauty of Kutralam.” The well-known TenKasi Viswanathar Temple, Sankarankoil Temple, and Ilangi Kumarar Temple are all located in the city.

History

Tenkasi, the final capital of the Pandya dynasty, was constructed in 1467 AD by Parakirama Pandian and is home to the Kasi Viswanathar Temple. Situated on the banks of Seevalaperi Pond lies the well-known temple.
