About Hosur

India’s Tamil Nadu state contains the industrial city of Hosur, which is situated in the Krishnagiri district. Tamil Nadu has twenty-one municipal corporations, including Hosur. History

In the thirteenth century, during the Chola dynasty, Hosur was referred to as Murasu Nadu. The town has been known by its current name since the sixteenth century. Inscriptions at the 11th-century Chandrachoodeshwara Swamy Temple describe the contributions made by Hoysalas. Approximately 1200 CE, Hoysalas ruled Hosur and made contributions to the temple. Next, the Vijayanagara Empire ruled over it.

Hosur later belonged to the Kingdom of Mysore. The British defeated Tipu Sultan in the third Anglo-Mysore war, which lasted from 1790 to 1792. He gave the British Indian provinces and Presidencies partial control over the southern portion of the Mysore kingdom in 1801. Salem collector Walton Illiat Lockardt established Hosur as Salem’s headquarters during the British era.
